When is a good time to lay sod? Right now!
Sodding during the spring is a good time to lay sod as it takes less water due to lower temperatures and moisture is gained through snow and rain. Most people don’t realize that dormant grass “wakes up” when the temperature is warmer than 32 degrees.
Cutting sod for installation stimulates the root system, thus improving growth. Laying sod in early spring helps cut down on spring mud and easily covers areas of dirt before it becomes a problem.
Proper ground preparation is critical anytime you install sod. With proper ground preparation, sod may be cut, installed and ready for a beautiful lawn in time for summer.
